Technology and older women: the use of personal intravaginal neuromuscular electrical stimulation to improve contraction strength and reduce urinary symptoms in older women with stress urinary incontinence and weak pelvic floor muscles

The objective of this study is to evaluate the effects of using a home vaginal electric stimulator in women age 60 and over with stress urinary incontinence and a weak pelvic floor.

Who may participate in this research? 

Women age 60 and over who:

  • Experience urinary incontinence at least 3 times per week for at least 3 months

  • Have trouble contracting their pelvic floor muscles

  • Are interested in doing pelvic floor muscle exercises with a vaginal electric stimulation device at home*.
