The laboratory was founded in 2007 and is located at the Institut universitaire de gériatrie de Montréal. The lab is directed by Chantale Dumoulin, PhD, Physiotherapist, Full Professor at the École de réadaptation de l'Université de Montréal and holder of the Canada Research Chair in Urogynecological Health and Aging.
The objectives of the Canada Research Chair in Urogynological Health and Aging are to better understand the causes of urinary incontinence and other gynecological issues, and to develop and implement improved physiotherapy treatments targeting women that are most likely to benefit. To achieve these research objectives, the laboratory is equipped with state-of-the-art tools such as dynamometry, ultrasonography and virtual reality equipment. Ultimately, the Canada Research Chair in Urogynecological Health and Aging will improve access to conservative treatments for urinary incontinence and hence, the quality of life of older women.
